Firstly hello to everyone, my first post. I think I will be spending sometime here, I've just recently bought a 1991 Fiesta 1.1 3dr with the intention of dropping a 2.0 into it.
I seem to of failed at the first hurdle by getting carried away and rushing into buying a 2.0 blacktop from an x reg focus. After doing some research I've realised this is the hardest one to fit as its a series 3 version and isn't a straight drop in the bay job.
I've been and bought the engine now so I've decided I'm going to go ahead and try and get it fitted

I'm hoping you more knowledgeable folk out there can confirm afew things for me I've found from snippets all over the place and join the dots for me.
First one is, a friend has a mk4 1.6CVH carb Escort I can take bits from if it helps, this car has a 5 speed gearbox and I was hoping to use this? I cant get a definite answer on wether this gearbox has different casing being escort vs fiesta, some places say its the same, others say its different. I have worked out that the 2.0 flywheel and clutch is too big to work with this box, so I need a 1.8 (Silvertop?) flywheel and 220mm clutch. Can anyone tell me which vehicles will have the correct clutch for the job?
Second one is, this engine is not a direct drop in jobby as one the series 3 engine the mounts changed and it was mounted using a single mount on the drivers side of the block. I have two options either I use the engine mounts from a later 16v XR2i and modifi them, or I use the single focus mount. I assume this comes down too personal choice wether I was too chop into the inner wing or not too use the single mount? Whats a little confusing is I've looked at mk3's where they have used the single focus mount, and some seem in a slightly different position than others. One simply just neatly sits ontop of the inner chassis leg and is spaced up, the other from NWSTEWART mentions he had to cutt into the inner wing and cutt out part of the lower wishbone mount. What I cant work out is if this is due to the gearbox he used or the fact he changed the gearbox mounts and tipped the whole lot backwards, causing that extra work?
Third question is, the engine has the alternator mounted on the back of the engine, also when having removed the power steering pump and AC pump, the belt is ran non serp layout meaning the water pump runs backwards. It appears moving the alternator to the front of the engine solves this problem, but I dont have to move the alternator if I dont want too I can leave it there. I've red a snippet from somewhere else suggests the alternator and bracket will work from this friends 1.6CVH? I can see theres afew different options in this department, which route would be best?
The final hurdle is the sump.... apprently it sits very low and the exhaust doesnt clear? Just how low is low extactly could I just extend the exhaust? or is it piss takingly low? I've also seen the inner cv fowels part of the sump on the back but it can be carefully grinded out?
Any wise words of wisdom is really appreciated all.
